Do I have a whiplash injury?

Oftentimes, the recognition and treatment of a whiplash injury can go undiagnosed. Many times patients are suffering for extended periods of time without the proper treatment or care. In our community of patients throughout Casa Grande, many of our patients have later told us they had an undiagnosed whiplash injury and wished they had come to see Dr. Tim Hoyt D.C.  sooner to resolve their concerns faster.

What are symptoms of whiplash?

Dr. Tim Hoyt D.C. and his team at Casa Grande Chiropractic understand that whiplash can be an injury causing stiffness, pain, and loss of range of motion in the neck. This pain can radiate down your neck to your upper shoulders and arms causing tremendous headaches and sharp pains.

Many patients here within Casa Grande, have visited our office complaining of  tingling, muscle weakness, and pain in their shoulders and into their arms. On more extreme cases,  our patients may even mention  correlated neurological issues, such as disorientation, confusion, loss of balance, loss of concentration, ringing in the ears, and even insomnia or fatigue.  This can cause headaches, bladder or bowel issues, and difficulty walking and lack of balance. It’s devastating to realize that many patients are walking around mistreating their pain, unsure of what the diagnosis is and treating symptoms instead of the root cause.

What causes whiplash?

Whiplash occurs when the head is forcefully jerked forward and backwards, or side to side. This sudden movement can damage the delicate structures within the cervical spine and can be serious if gone untreated. While whiplash is commonly sustained in car accidents, it can also occur due to physical abuse, a traumatic fall, a sports injury, or a blow to the head.  Some of our patients notice immediate pain following the injury and others won’t experience symptoms until two or even three weeks after the injury takes place.
